Lori & Sarah’s European Buying Trip Jan 2023: Day 1

Pizza

Antwerp, Belgium is a historic port city that is renowned for its diamond industry, museums, and progressive fashion scene. It has one of the best art scenes in Europe. Located in Flanders on the northern side of Belgium, it is the country’s second-largest city and a major business hub. Additionally, it is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, making it an amazing destination to explore.

It is also our first destination on this buying trip! Jet lagged, we dragged ourselves to Da Giovanni Groenplaats and started with the freshest Insalate Caprese I’ve ever eaten, of course we had to try the bruschetta and we shared lasagna and salami pizza! We had to be rolled out of there. It was absolutely packed to the rafters with people and the staff were out of this world!!

Both of us LOVE old buildings and the city’s architecture reflects its significant history, with many gothic builds appearing throughout the city. The stunning five-tower Antwerp Cathedral is a must-visit when exploring the city, as is the Market Square, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

When visiting Antwerp, you must also explore the vibrant art scene. The city is home to numerous galleries and museums, such as the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, which focuses on Old Masters from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Contemporary art lovers might want to visit the MuZee and the MAS museums, both of which feature modern works from around the world.

The city is also known for its fashion scene. Many of the world’s top fashion designers have stores in Antwerp, and the city plays host to various fashion and art fairs each year.

Although the majority of people visit Antwerp for its attractions, the city also boasts some wonderful restaurants and bars as well as countless seafood joints. For our first 6 hours I’d say it’s a definite MUST VISIT in our books!

Come back here to read about our trip everyday and learn what we learn along with us!
